A Month of Tribute…

They’re some of our best friends, so its only fit that we take a month to honor them. The tradition, like many dedicated months, supports responsible pet ownership and raises money for a variety of pet-related charities.

The official charity’s site even links to Facebook groups for pet lovers to communicate throughout April.

Of course, people have also been posting on Twitter in celebration of the month, and businesses are taking the opportunity for promotion/showing their love for furry friends.

You can’t blame them though. National Pet Month has become a big thing in the United Kingdom, and the United States should follow their example (National Pet Month for the U.S. is May. Let me know if you find a website, because I can’t find a website.)

This year, National Pet Month has 25 affiliates all working together to promote the organization’s goals:

  • Promote responsible pet ownership
  • Make people aware of the mutual benefits of living with pets
  • Increase public awareness of the role of pet care specialists
  • Raise awareness of the value of working and assistance companion animals

I for one can testify to the benefits of living and caring for a pet. It’s great even when they interrupt you when typing a blog post…

Have a great month, U.K.! For the U.S., let’s get excited for May!
